The Cay
In the Cay our hero Phillip, leaves home with his mom because she’s had enough of the war. He gets separated from her when the S.S HATO is torpedoed. He is brought aboard a raft by a guardian angle, Timothy. During the next few months, a lot of things happen. This transformed Phillip into a hero. He creates a better world for himself because he learned from this journey.
Bam! One day Phillip’s mom talks about leaving because of the war. Phillip’s parents argue about them leaving. Sadly the father gives in and they leave. Phillip and his mom board the S.S HATO and start their journey to the states.
Phillip awakens in the middle of the sea, along side of Timothy and Stew Cat. They are aboard a raft, and he finds out that the S.S HATO got torpedoed. Phillip has been in and out of sleep due to a cut on the head, finally he goes blind. Phillip knows how to fend for himself because Timothy taught him great survival skills. Phillip learns how to work with what he has. He is not racist anymore. Phillip finally stops acting childish and grows up.
Phillip has overcome his prejudice toward people that are different from him. He also has matured. This adventure taught him so much that he is a different person inside and out.
Phillip’s story describes a true Hero’s Journey. He is brought to a very difficult situation and does well. During this time he overcomes many obstacles with help from Timothy. Phillip proves to be a true epic hero.
