In the story "The Gift of Magi" is about a young girl named Della that decides to buy this boy Jim a Christmas present. Della has only a $1.87 and she wants to get Jim something fine, rare and sterling. She decides to cut her hair at the "Mme Sofronie" to get more money to buy Jim a Christmas present.
Della then has $21.87 and buys Jim a platinum fob chain. She then just has .87 cents and the chain in her hand. goes home and gets ready for Jim to arrive. When Jim arrives he is very surprised of how Della looks and then Della gave Jim the present she got him. Jim is then speechless and gives Della that he has gotten her. Della is then very happy because of the present Jim has gotten her, because she had wanted that present for a long time. Jim and Della then start talking about how they gave up their special things to get each something more special.

She wanted to give the most amazing thing ever! THe cost for thing most "Amazing Thing" was her long beautiful hair. Just for her husband's present, that won't even be used.
He did the same thing. He sold his watch that has been past down from two genorations already, just for a box of combs. Pitty. It's a treassure, he won't be getting back.
The Magi were, the wise men who brought people gifts, but they we're wise gifts. They brought gifts, that would be valuable to these people. But not accessories. The reason why is because she could of never cut her hair,but the gift was a very

The other thing I would say is that Jim did a good thing because he had sold his watch
to gat Della a present. So what im saying is give and it'll come back to you. Which he

Well in the "Gift of the Magi" a girl named Della only has $1.87. She really wants to buy Jim a Christmas present, but after months of saving she could only save up $1.87. So she came up with an idea that would able her to get him something.
She went to "Mme. Sofronie. Hair goods of all kinds." She went to see how much her long brunette hair would be worth. The lady that worked there, Madame said that her hair was worth twenty-dollars. So Della cut off her long brunette hair then she went look for the perfect gift for Jim.
She found a fob chain for the watch he loved for twenty-one dollars. She went home and waited for him to come home to see his reaction to her hair and his gift. When he arrived she was in for a suprise because it turned out that he sold his watch to get her the beautiful combs that she wanted, even though now she had no long hair.

The theme of the story would have to be never give away or cut your hair to get money. The reason why I think that is because you can earn money in many other ways. Even if you really do like that person you can just tell them you will have get your present after Christmas. And if they like you back they will understand. If they don't you should reconsider liking them. But I would never cut my hair to sell for money and buy a present with the money I got. Even though she only had 1.87 she should have just gotten Jim a card and tell him how you really feel. Instead of going through something she really doesn't have to do. In the story of “Gift of the Magi”, I noticed two of different themes. They were: “irony” and “loves conqueres all”.
In my opinion the whole story is ironic. We have the wife, Della, that shaves her head and sells all of her hair to buy her loving husband his Christmas present. Now the husband, Jim, who sells his watch to buy his wife her Christmas present. Keep in mind that they are both poor, unwealthy people; that's why they sold their belongings. Now when it's time to open their presents, Della's is ironically a set of combs. When Jim opened his present, it was a chain for his watch. Ironic, no?
Now in all reality this story came out to be a love/ironic story. Even after she was completely bald, not a hair on her head, he still loved her. Even though he sold his watch, she wasn't mad. (Maybe because both of their situations kind of evened out.) Either way, love conqueres all.

the main i dea in my eyes is that people will do anything for someone they love and that means that they will cut ther hair and sell things... when you love someone you will do anything for them to get either present or just because they need warmth. lets say if you wife or husband is cold and you warm as a summer day you would probobly give them you jacket because you love them, like this story she didnt have enough money yet so she tried to find a way to get more money when she was walking down the street she saw as ign and she found a lady who would buy her hair because her hair was georgeous and she bought her man jim something for his watch when she got home all she did was await when he walked he was probobly stunned that her hair was cut when he gave her her present she found out why he was so stunned he had gotten her the combs that she has wanted for forever and she was exited when she opened them when he opened his present she said let me see your watch and he told her that he sold his watch for the combs and for me that means the they sacrifice preacious things for peple they love so that is wahat i think the main idea should be it should be that no matter what thill death do part you will do watever it takes for someone you love

jesse giles phillip journey
The Cay is a book about heroism and overcoming prejudice. Phillip live in Wilastad witch is and island in the Caribana ocean. He lives with her farther and mother. His farther works for a oil refinery. The story takes place in the world war 2 time set. Phillips mother was vary scared for her son and farther live. His farther refused to go so she left him there. The were on there way to the united states when they bored the ss.Hato. the ship was torpedoed. The last thing Philip remember is that the ship was it. Then he blacked out. He woke up and was on a raft with a black man and a cat her rembers the cat from the the ship but not the the black man. The black man name is Timothy. By his acsent Phillip could tell that he was from the virgin islands or some place like that.the cats names was stew cat timothy thought the cat brought bad luck. But killing a cat is more bad luck. he asked timothy how he got on the ship. Timothy said you were hit in the head by something. And I saved you. Phillip thought to himself where is my mother. But he had no way to find out. Phillip was really to fond of black people. Because of his mother she did not enforce it but she did let it be known that she did not like them. So he was scared on the island they stayed on there side. I few days after being on the raft they seen an island and they bored it. Some time after being on the island Phillip went blind. Phillip has a conflict with timothy. He called him a black man who couldent spell. And timothy could not spell. Timothy start showing phillip how to be independent just in case he does not survive to watch out for him. He shows him a fishing hole. And put the fishing poles in a spot he will always know where there at. One day a storm hits and it’s a bad one to it has fast winds and when the storm was over phillip was calling timothy and there was no answer so he felt every where. He found him lying down and he wasen’t breathing timothy died that day and left phillip by him self. He was smart for showing him how to fen for him self . one day he goes fishing and he catches 2 longosta he goes down a 3rd time and he got bit by a a elli he think but he was blind so it could have been anything. Later that night phillip hears a plane aproching him so he get this plant that make black smoke he can hear the plane getting closer and closer then it goes over his head. He was sad that the plane did not turn around so he goes to sleep thinking he will be on this island forever. The next morning. He can hear the horn of a bout getting closer and a man yells it’s a naked boy. Sence storm wiped off all his clothes. He did not know who the peqple were but the man who helped him to the bout said we found a boy sergeant.so its was some kind of milatry. They took him to the clinic on the bout first thing. He lost his sifgr doe to brain damage from when he got hit his head.they fixed his sight but he had to where glasses for the rest of his life.his mom went back to the island and was reunited with her son. Phillip felt different about black people. He never hanged out with the same kids he did when he left the island he made friends with that black people and asked them if they know timothy and some of them did. He became vary good friends with the black people.
