Ramsey Forcier - Final Exam

The theme of this story is that people go through great lenghts to get their loved ones something perfect. And will do what ever is needed to do so. But you have to think about what the other person is going to do to get you what you want. Are they going to give up something valuable to them to get you the perfect gift? For example, Della didn't have enough money to buy Jim (boyfriend and girlfriend in the story) a new strap for his watch that has been passed down to him from generation to generation so she sells her long, beautiful hair for twenty dollars. She went searching for the perfect gift. She finally finds this chain that shines in the light. She goes home and waits for him to get home. He finally arrives and gives Della her present. She opens it up and its a very nice, expensive comb set she has been wanting for years but she sold her hair for the chain. She gives him her gift but finds out Jim sold his watch to get her the comb set.
