The Main idea for me was that Della was always trying to find a way to get money to buy Jim a gift. It was the main idea to me because they bot sold something very valuble to buy a gift.
The thing that Della sold that was very valuble to her was her hair . It was valuble to her because she thought that Jim was going to thing that she was ugly. So she prayed to God and said," Plaese God, make him think i am still pretty.
The thing that Jim sold that was very valuble to him was his watch that belonged to his father and his granfather. It was valuble to him because it was passed down from his grandfather, to his dad, and now him. With the money that he got for the watch , he bought the comb that Della had always worshiped for long in a Broadway window.
Those were the resons that I thought that the main idea was some one always trying to find a way to get money to buy someone els a gift.
