How did Edgar Allen Poe die? This question has still yet to be answered. But there are four main theories to which his death occurred.
Article one, Poe's Death Is Rewritten as Case of Rabies, Not Telltale Alcohol, September 15th, 1996, was said to be Poe's death caused by rabies not alcohol. He didn't recall being bitten but did have encephalitic, or swelling of the brain caused by diseases such as rabies. It was said to believe that the fourth day in the hospital he spent confused and belligerent. Then got quiet and died.
Article two, If Only Poe Had Succeeded When He Said Nevermore to Drink, September 23rd, 1996, believed that Poe died from alcohol poisoning. He was frequently apologizing to his wife promising to "Nevermore to drink." And footage reveals him stumbling out of a bar one night. Dr. R. Michael Benitez apologized for the wrong cause of death, that was said to be rabies that killed Poe. Poe then dies on October 7th.
Article three, Rabies Death Theory, September 30th, 1996, was said to go back to the death of rabies. Much like article one with the incentive that just because one does not recall being bitten doesn't mean one was never bitten.
Article four, Poe's Final Days, written on the unknown. Said to be Poe's death caused by first by alcohol then the flu. To drunk to care about the wind and rain, got sick and couldn't get better. But studies show that there was also symptoms of encephalitic, the same symptoms Poe " had" when said to be diagnosed with rabies.
IN all the articles there seemed to be alcohol or the bar and symptoms of rabies like confusion and belligerents. All articles seem to be realistic, but which one is it? I seem to believe that Edgar Allen Poe didn't die from alcohol poisoning or the flu, but from being drunk and getting bitten by a rabies infected animal and not being able to remember it.
